En lille historie - uden slutning

Thomas was standing guard. He had been doing so for the last four-and-a-half hours. What he was guarding wasn’t important, he was told, which meant that what he was guarding was actually super important, or at least important enough for him not to be told about it.

He looked at his watch, unaware of the fact that he had been standing there for four-and-a-half hours and in a moment of bitter realization he realized, that he still had seven-and-a-half hours left of his shift. He felt a sudden depression, like a ten year old kid going to the store to buy the new videogame, only to find that it has been sold out.

“No way am I going to make it through seven-and-a-half hours” he thought. He felt the urge to do all the things he couldn’t; eat, sleep, smoke, drink etc. and suddenly he was lying on a beach in Bora Bora, next to a beautiful girl, and he thought that she told him to “stand hut”, but he couldn’t be sure. He laid down in the sand and let himself become swept away by this paradise and then he hears someone yell, and he is right back at his old guard post staring right into the Boss’ eyes and the Boss whispers gently into Thomas’ ear “Would you rub my back please?” and Thomas was quite confused and mildly disturbed, but then he realizes that he is right back on that beach in Bora Bora and the girl next to him is looking at him quite flirtatiously.
This gave him a slight erection and The Boss notices this, and punches him in the crotch. Thomas falls to his knees, screaming in pain and agony and the girl in Bora Bora laughed and the Boss cried, or was it the other way around, and then Thomas started to cry because it was all so confusing and he couldn’t tell which is which or who is whom, and he closes his eyes, but then remembers to check his watch, and now there is only ten minutes left and he sees a light at the end of the tunnel, but he also remembers that a light is sometimes just an oncoming train and checked his watch again, and there really was only ten minutes left and he became ecstatic, but also slightly nervous.
He started remembering “In My Time of Dying” by Led Zeppelin to make time go faster, and after a couple of moments of doing this, he sees Eddie coming to replace him, but he doesn’t.
